Tracked micro UGVs, an amphibious all-terrain vehicle, and a vision-guided quadcopter.
01 · TRat
Tunnel Rat (TRat)
Tunnel Rat is a tracked micro UGV, under 10 lb, robust enough to be thrown from a second-floor window.
The system is capable of over 5 km/h (configuration can make it much faster) and operates for multiple hours, depending on configuration and motors.
It is modular: basic off-the-shelf FPV equipment, or a Pixhawk, a long-range radio such as DoodleLabs, GPS, a camera, and an onboard computer with a tensor processing unit for object identification, recognition and tracking.
With a DoodleLabs radio, several TRats can form a mesh, with cameras acting as ISR. Several TRats can also be connected front to back into a longer system that climbs more difficult terrain.
The system excels at trenches, tunnels and other complex terrain.
Possible scenarios
- Throwable smart mine: TRat runs Aimbot, waits in a trench for a trained target, then pursues and detonates.
- Coupled TRats explore a trench or tunnel. When the signal weakens, a rear unit disconnects and retransmits over the DoodleLabs mesh so the others can continue. On the way back, they reconnect.
- Ambush smart mine: hidden in roadside brush, Aimbot scans for a vehicle type (for example a tank), then drives at it and detonates.
- Several TRats retransmit the control signal through the mesh so it stays usable even under jamming.
Military applications
- Onboard camera for ISR.
- Carry Small Waldo for ISR and call for fire.
- Carry an explosive payload and be remotely operated to a target.
Civilian applications
- Look for IEDs under cars.
- Explore a room before a SWAT entry.
- Explore dangerous or toxic environments and take measurements.
- Explore pipes, roofs and other small spaces.
02 · SRat
Super Rat (SRat)
A larger Tunnel Rat. This 20 lb (9 kg) version has more torque, carries substantially more gear, and is faster.
It can carry Medium and Large Waldo for ISR or ISR+. Taller Deep Track lets it climb higher obstacles.
Military applications
- Shares Tunnel Rat capabilities, and can carry a Medium or Large Waldo capable of ISR+.
- With DoodleLabs, several SRats retransmit the signal back to the ground control station.
- Onboard computer running Aimbot, used as a large smart mine.
- Hidden roadside ambush: scans for a specific vehicle type, then drives at it and detonates.
Civilian applications
- Same uses as Tunnel Rat.
- Can be used as a weaponized UGV to put distance between a law-enforcement agent and a threat.
03
Pivot
A quad screw-propelled vehicle, and the only MUGV of its kind currently made. Pivot is an all-terrain amphibious UGV for snow, sand, swamps and open water.
Depending on load-out it weighs 50–100 lb (22–45 kg). Default size is 1000 × 600 × 500 mm, and is modifiable.
Tasks include delivering equipment where tracks cannot go, carrying and deploying Tunnel Rats, ISR in hard-to-reach places, and ISR+ with Medium and Large Waldos.
On water, swamp and land it can be launched from water against ground targets, released from land against water or littoral targets, or cross swamps and small rivers — with a remote weapon station or an explosive payload.
Like the other JustRobots vehicles, it uses an HD camera and a DoodleLabs radio for remote operation.
Military applications
- Aimbot watches specific marine targets from land, then enters the water and propels itself toward the target.
- Deployed from a boat for a ground assault.
- Remotely operated across a river to a target on the opposite bank.
- Approach from a hard-to-reach place such as a swamp.
- Onboard camera for ISR; Small Waldo for ISR and call for fire; Medium or Large Waldo for ISR+.
- Explosive payload, remotely operated to the target.
- Mesh retransmission with DoodleLabs, and Aimbot smart-mine or roadside ambush modes, as on the Rat family.
Civilian applications
- Over-water delivery of equipment to hard-to-reach locations.
- Deep snow: deliver equipment or support a rescue.
- Toxic, swamp or swamp-like environments.
04
Valkyrie
A 5-inch (12 cm) propeller quadcopter with Aimbot. In the default configuration it scans for chosen targets, climbs, then flies at the target with Aimbot guiding it: a vision-guided quadcopter to target.
Military applications
- Perched on a roof or on the ground, scanning. Once a target is found, it climbs and flies toward it.
- Remotely piloted until the operator designates a target; Aimbot then takes over. Onboard guidance continues if the link is jammed.
- Several Valkyries released from a mothership over a target-rich area, each flying at the first matching target.
- Carried on Pivots to a likely area, then launched to climb and scan.
- Unfolding-arm version, shaped like a stick grenade: thrown by a warfighter, it flies in the thrown direction while scanning the ground. A match changes its trajectory toward the target. If none is found within a set time, it self-destructs — a smart-grenade variant.
